Welcome to Viscera!
Viscera helps urology practices move through the full visit workflow, from organizing the prior chart and capturing the encounter, to structuring the assessment and plan, preparing orders, generating the note, and sending the approved record back to the EHR. Advances in AI now make it possible to organize years of chart history, support cleaner documentation, and reduce the administrative burden on physicians and staff.
The workflow is organized into three simple steps on the iPad:
1. Chart Review
Before the visit, Viscera pulls the patient’s prior EHR chart history and generates an up-to-date clinical recap for each condition.
This reduces the need to manually dig through old notes by surfacing the relevant clinical context up front, while also creating a structured clinical summary that can support clear handoffs to the patient’s primary care physician or another specialist.
2. Record the Visit
During the encounter, you can record the visit directly from the iPad. Viscera uses the conversation to help generate the clinical note.
You don’t need to change the way you speak with the patient. The system is designed to listen in the background and organize the relevant clinical content into the note.
3. Recap the Assessment & Plan
After the visit, dictate your assessment and plan naturally. Simply say the primary diagnosis, what you want to order, medications, follow-up timing, counseling, or any other next steps. Viscera will extract the diagnoses, identify the plan items, and present them back for review.
This replaces the need to navigate multiple lists manually. You can verify the diagnoses, orders, and plan details on screen before approving.
You Stay in Control
Before anything is sent to the EHR, you can review and edit. You have full control over the final output.

Encounter Workflow Overview
Appointments
After logging into your Viscera account, you will land on the Appointments Page, where all of today's scheduled appointments live. The top ribbon lets you filter by Date, Status, Provider, and Location.
By default, the date will show today’s date. Select your name and location from the drop down.
Identify your patient based on the appointment schedule or search for them by name and select their appointment.
Step 1: Chart Review
Before entering the room, review the patient’s history in the Chart Review section.
History
Clinical Recap
This is a problem-oriented summary of the patient’s clinical story. Viscera gets prior encounter notes from the EHR for this patient, and then synthesizes into a current view of where the patient stands for each condition. This is intended to help you understand what has happened, what is currently true, and what matters for today’s visit without manually reading through prior notes.
Evidence
Scroll down to view a structured list of the labs, imaging, procedures, surgeries extracted from prior notes. This gives you the supporting details behind the recap and makes it easier to review prior results.
Every time a note is approved, Viscera updates the patient history using the clinically relevant information from that encounter. Over time, the Longitudinal Condition Recap continues to reflect the most current patient story, while the Evidence section preserves the supporting facts used to inform that view.
New Data
If new labs, imaging, or other results have come in since the last visit, select Start Recording to capture your review. Relevant details will appear in the Data Reviewed section.
After reviewing the history and adding any new data, select Next.
Step 2: During the Visit
When you are ready to begin the encounter with the patient, click Start Recording.
Place the iPad on the counter and conduct the visit as usual. The app will capture the conversation so you can stay focused on the patient instead of taking notes during the encounter.
When the visit is complete, select Stop.
You may create multiple recordings during the same visit if needed. For example, you can stop and restart the recording if the encounter is interrupted or if you need to capture an additional conversation.
Step 3: Assessment & Orders
Immediately after the visit, use Assessment & Orders to recap the diagnoses and the plan for each diagnosis.
Click Start Recording, then dictate the assessment and plan in a clear, diagnosis-linked format.
Example: “His primary diagnosis is elevated PSA. Follow up in six months with an IsoPsa prior. His secondary diagnosis is BPH with LUTs. We can refill his finasteride and refill his uroxatral. And when he follows up in six months, we'll do a uroflow, a PVR, and an IPSS.”
You may also dictate dot phrases (text shortcuts) in this section. They will be included in your note.
When finished, select Stop.
Viscera will populate the ICD-10 diagnoses and associated plan items.
You can remove any incorrect item by selecting the X. You may also record an additional recap if more information needs to be added.
Once you’ve reviewed the diagnosis codes and orders, click Send Orders and Generate Note. This starts generating the full clinical note and, if Viscera is connected to your EHR, sends the ICD-10 codes and orders. Once the note is generated, it will automatically populate the relevant sections in your EHR, including the Reason for Visit, Physical Exam, and Assessment & Plan. You can also view the completed note anytime in Viscera by clicking the Notes tab.
Step 4: Sign off on the Note in the EHR
The note includes the chief complaint, assessment and plan, visit notes, data reviewed, HPI, physical exam, GU exam, in-office tests and procedures, and other required note sections.
Any edits to the note can be made in the EHR before signing off on the appointment.
